For our 6th anniversary my husband came home on leave from an all-others tour in South Korea. He had been secretly communicating with my sister for us to renew our vows. (I had moved to were she and my mom lived while he was gone) Since our wedding I’d given birth to two girls. Like many women I always thought I was too fat. The doctor I had at our last duty station was worried that I’d lost too much weight. He actually wanted me to put some back on. I told him I wanted to lose another 10. I wasn’t a small person. I have a medium frame, so it wouldn’t have been healthy, but when you are young you don’t think about that. Anyway my husband had taken a month’s leave, with the anniversary falling in the middle of it. When I put that dress on it was actually big on me! The photos from our first ceremony are rather bad. I was on this “natural” kick, so I had no makeup on. The hoop was visible under the dress-the hoop that was so stupid and should NOT have been used. By contrast the renewal looked amazing. My sister’s camera was of better quality. After the ceremony she had us take photos outside. Our daughters are in the shot. The church wound up being double-booked. There was an Eagle ceremony that was supposed to happen at the same time! The boys were great about it though. One of them took a group photo of us all, my family and my sister’s family and our mom. Momma had the picture enlarged and it hung on her wall until she passed.

A husband usually cares more about if his wife could still fit into what she wore one the wedding night

It was my wife’s second marriage, so she bought a dress she can wear occasionally and she does.

Genius deflection from discussing her weight.

As long as you can fit into the negligee, that’s all that really counts…..

She’s not talking about getting married, she talking about getting fat.

Now THAT’s really sweet. The definition of a spouse not taking the other for granted. It’s worth all the rose bouquets in the world!
