    Yes, that’s what one variety of cordless phone looked like around 1988.

    I also now have vindication for folks who thought I was wrong when telling them that this same phone, seen in the online-only era, wasn’t a walkie-talky.

    ‘Course, I’m more used to the ones that had a handset that had a shape closer to the one on a Trimline phone and lay flat in the cradle—so there, the mouthpiece would have been thinner than the rest of the phone.

    This one stands up on its charger just like a modern landline phone.

    when my mother was a youngster (1920s), the telephone joke was: “have you got SirWalter Raleigh in a can? Well, you better let him out. . .” (I think Sir Walter Raleigh was a brand of tobacco. . .)
