When I went to school all supplies were given to us, don’t know what happened!

That wasn’t a joke. I donated two backpacks a couple years ago and it cost a third of my paycheck… but it still felt nice.

Is that before or after applying for a loan to gas up the car?

I really feel bad for young family’s these days. When my children were in school in the 90’s, it was expensive back then, especially as a single parent. I don’t know how they’re affording gas, food, clothing and school supplies. It’s sad.

When our older daughter started kindergarten, we got the list & picked up everything she needed. Every year after that, her Godmother took her – AND her younger sister – and got everything…and I mean everything, including backpacks, lunchboxes, 1st-day outfits, shoes, etc.

The highlight of the school year was getting pencils, pens and a pencil box. Everything was downhill after that.

Unfortunately, the out of pocket expenses for teachers is high, too.

And what’s wrong with the scissors they had last year and left over pencils? I’m sure they brought something home at the end of the last school year. Except paste – Hammie would have eaten that and Elmer’s Glue – Zoe would have put that on her hands to make it look like she was pulling her skin off.

No, I’m pretty sure that’s a Mom joke. Along with rhyming garbage with garage when saying garbage sale.

Every year a group I belong to holds a school supply drive. My $100 sure didn’t go very far. When I was a teacher my first two paychecks went to classroom supplies. I can’t imagine how it is for teachers now.

Just be thankful you don’t have to get them new backpacks this year. Well, you’d probably have to get Zoe one, because the one she had last year is ‘unfashionable,’ but Hammie’s fine. He probably doesn’t want a new backpack even if the one he has is literally falling apart.

In the eighties paid for his school supplies, supplies for the classroom and every year paid student fees until he graduated 12th grade

I was a school bus driver…make the children leave the scissors at the school at the end of the day: when children (especially tweens) get on a bus with scissors, they play around with them while the bus is moving; sometimes cutting up the seats. It’s bad enough that they weaponize rubber bands…

And prepare to have your children turned into America-hating, Caucasian-hating Leftists who don’t know if they’re boys or girls, both, neither, or something else, but want to have sex in various ways as soon and as often as possible with everyone and everything possible. (I exaggerate. Somewhat. I hope.) I’m sad and reluctant to think it is even partly that bad, but with very little effort it’s easy to find all sorts of horror stories, and I didn’t even get to the number of cases of teachers teaching things they don’t want the parents to find out about, or sexting or having sex with students! Three cheers for the teachers who aren’t anything like that, but let’s not let the fact that they still exist blind us to all the bad stuff that is going on.
