so if it’s cold outside, wear basketball shorts and a T-shirt in the store?

usually I think the coolest place in a grocery store — as a shopper — is the milk/eggs and bagged salad areas… and that’s in Costco

I must admit some stores seem to have trouble with their HVAC systems or the Humans that control them ;-)

Considering some grocery stores keep the temp down in the lower 60’s not surprising and the there’s the open cooler displays and the freezers to stand in front of with the door open, deciding what you’re going to pull out.

I can get a hot flash just thinking about putting on a sweater. Been going on for over 20 years.

I was in the store one day and a little girl was shivering – practically turning blue! – so I took off my sweater and wrapped it around her. “Just leave it with the cashier.” That lady said the mum was SOOOO grateful.

Not so much to the grocery store, but my 89yo mom always carries a sweater when she goes out to eat. At least in the store you’r walking around & not likely to have cold air blowing on you continuously for an hour!

I keep forgetting to bring a sweater. The AC and freezer sections are too much!

The operative word being “her.” Not applicable to male pluggers. And her husband takes advantage of the opportunity to turn down the heat while she’s out of the house doing the shopping.

Yesterday, the grocery store wasn’t too bad, but the drugstore was freezing. Usually it is the grocery store and mainly, the ‘cooler/freezer’ aisles. Luckily, I never stay long in either.

Coolest places in grocery stores – meats, seafood deli, and refrigerated eggs, dairy and veggies…

My mother was a nurse who worked the night shift, and the hospital was always freezing cold. She had a nice white cardigan sweater to match her white uniform, and she left it on the back of her chair at the desk when she was up and about taking care of patients. Her coworkers loved to tie together the sweater arms to “surprise” her when she came back and tried to put the sweater back on! (I would have jabbed them with the nearest needle, lol).

I spent the first 60 years or so of my life overheated. Husband would get upset that I would go out in 30F weather with my jacket open as I was too hot and no jacket when the temperature was more than that – a sweatshirt when it was in the 40Fs/maybe the 50Fs. He was always sure I would get sick.

Because of this everything in our house is set up to keep me cool – my seat in the kitchen catches the cold from the air conditioner in our studio behind the kitchen, my side of the bed has the air conditioner…

Then at more or less the same time I went through menopause, lost a good deal of weight, and started taking a thyroid pill for low thyroid. Since then I am freezing almost all the time. I will wear a sweatshirt (don’t own any sweaters, just sweatshirts to go with the tee shirts I wear all the time) in the 60Fs these days and don’t wear one when it warmer only because he won’t let me as he says I will get overheated even though I feel cold. Then there are times when one side of me – left or right – is cold and the other is hot or the top or bottom of me is cold and the other half of me is hot!

One thing which is strange about this is while my thryoid was low was when I should have felt cold – fixing that with meds should have resolved it, but it was the reverse.
