The Four Freedoms were articulated by FDR in Jan 1941. The Seditious Six on the Supreme Court are dedicated to undoing all of his work and of those who followed in his path. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Freedoms
There are some who look at this cartoon with satisfaction. For them, the Second Amendment—more precisely, the second half of the Second Amendment—establishes a right (they are wrong) that trumps all other rights (they are wrong).
The longer our country allows this mistake to corrupt our society and to fertilize the vicious, selfish, destructive gun culture, the weaker, more divided, and sicker we become.
Thankfully the Republican members of my family who fought against fascism in WWII [and racial segregation afterward] have all passed away and don’t have to see one of the US political factions — using the Republican name — brutally embracing fascism and willfully dismantling human rights.
“As America entered the war these “four freedoms” – the freedom of speech, the freedom of worship, the freedom from want, and the freedom from fear – symbolized America’s war aims and gave hope in the following years to a war-wearied people because they knew they were fighting for freedom. Excellent strip, Mr. Deering. Only the U.S. has this obsession with as many firearms as possible, other nations act rationally on this issue.

I am somewhat happy that I have not lost all reactions/reflexes, but sad that I should be happy about it.
