now why would a school backpack have a parachute? as if Petey would suicidally jump off from the school building’s roof

Suddenly, Petey had aged far beyond his years…

So what’s wrong with Mom having a little fun and playing around with both her kids’ minds? They’re already surrounded by bizarre kids and toddlers at school and pre-school.

I’d go with the lunchbox. Sounds MUCH cooler than that bookbag!

Mom is ensuring her kids are equipped for school but she’s a “dangerous lunatic?” She’s using a targeted method to get her kids to accept what they need but are too spoiled (and ungrateful) to understand.

Mom has learned coping skills over the years.

I remember the smell of a school lunch box. I swear, it never changed from kindergarten through 6th grade. After that, we were too cool to carry lunch boxes; it had to be paper bags. The years I’m referring to are 1956 to 1965.I had to check my old class photos for the dates. I don’t have kindergarten, first or second which were at Hempstead Elem in St Louis. But I do have 1959 3rd grade from Concord Lutheran in St Louis, 6th grade 1963 Laurel Elem in Oceanside CA, 1964 7th grade at Jefferson JH in Oceanside and 1965 8th grade at Jefferson.

Doesn’t Petey’s current back pack already goes BANG! a couple times a year? He should feel right at home with the new one. Maybe mom should have said Little Nero(sp?) instead of Dickens.

The last thing in the world I can imagine Petey as is a Sherpa. The only thing he climbs is into bed.

Madeline Otterloop has a Sense of Humor far beyond those of ordinary moms!

She traumatized Petey and bamboozled Alice!
