Considering many religions have no problem with abortion, it’s a very specific sort of theocracy. Of course, I tend to believe that these power-mongers would be doing nearly the same things with different excuses even if religion never existed. They will abuse whatever they have at hand to achieve their own purposes (ie., domination over everyone else).
If there’s no longer going to be a separation of church and state, does that mean churches will start paying taxes on all the prime real estate they’re sitting on? (I didn’t think so . . . )
Thank God, I mean, that God, I mean the god of the minority of the people in this country, I mean, the very same god, who is all for us having an a$$load of very lethal weapons with which we can inflict some nasty violence. What a win.
Jen, the Roe v Wade decision does not end abortion per se. It simply kicks the issue over to the states. With the red states taking steps to restrict and/or ban abortion and the blue states taking steps to protect it. My hope is that this will shift the focus of the debate back to the woman seeking the abortion. Not because she “wants” it, few women do, but because she doesn’t feel she can have this pregnancy for personal, financial and/or health reasons. This does not end the abortion wars, this just starts a new chapter. It also shows that we need to have a 20 year term limit for Supreme Court Justices and make those 20 years retroactive for those who have already served 20 years (like Clarence Thomas). We won’t fix this right wing court overnight, but we can’t give up either.
