Hey! The J6 hearings are moving like Gangbusters. The Watergate hearings paid off but took all summer to get up a head of steam. The Iran-Contra hearings were useless as tits on a boar in their conclusions and boring as watching paint dry presentation.
Iran-Contra Affair was a criminal enterprise run by the President, the Sec. of Defense, the National Security Advisor, the asst. Sec. of State, the CIA, an Air force general, and some guy named Hakim, who stole U.S. military weapons, sold most of them to terrorists in Iran, and gave some of the money and arms to terrorists in Nicaragua. The CIA also imported cocaine to the U.S. from Nicaragua to help with finance.
Caspar Weinberger, Secretary of Defense: indicted, pardoned
National Security Advisor John Poindexter: jury convicted, judge overturned
Robert McFarlane, National Security Adviser: convicted, pardoned
Elliott Abrams, Assistant Secretary of State: convicted, pardoned
National Security Advisor John Poindexter: jury convicted, judge overturned
Alan D. Fiers, Chief of CIA’s Central American Task Force: convicted, pardoned
Clair George, Chief of Covert Ops-CIA: convicted, pardoned
Oliver North, member of the National Security Council: jury convicted, judge overturned
Duane Clarridge, CIA senior official: indicted, pardoned
Richard V. Secord, Air Force major general: plead guilty, two years probation
Albert Hakim, arms dealer : plead guilty to stealing government property, two years probation and $5,000 fine
Hearing of all this makes me think of Germany circa 1931—nazi street thugs and parliament disrupters (also thugs) forcing their way into control.
Now I expect to see activism unseen since Vietnam—at the ballot box as well as in street demonstrations.
This is now not the time for nitpicking between progressives and moderates. Time to unify for the main objective: retuning Supreme Court judgeships to a modicum of unity and respect.
