They should definitely still sell it, highlighting the expiration date, to people that can use it in time. In my grocery shop they do that, discounting everything close to the expiration date. No waste of good food.
“Expiration dates” are rare and resulted in waste, pretty much limited now to medicine. Food products now have “sell by dates” and “recommended use by dates”. Old joke is that your milk can’t read the labels. Pretty much why most people give everything they open a subconscious sniff test.
