Sad. I kinda liked the one that showed these 6 on one side and the other three on the other side of a divide. “Separation of (loyalty to) church and state”

No one seems to be highlighting the contrast between what the Supreme Court just did and the gun control bill (weak but not nothing) making its way through congress….

And some folks have the gall to criticize the Dems for even wanting to “pack the SCOTUS”. Hell, that’s because the GOP has already done the job and doesn’t want any Dems (or Damn) interfering!

I guess that means people should be able to enter the Supreme Court facilities carrying loaded weapons. Right?

Well, to be honest, the basis of their ruling was that Congress really needs to get off its ass and do their job and stop leaving it to the Courts to legislate. If people REALLY want that level of gun control (which I would be one), then they should elect people that will pass law as that do that OR work to change the Constitution so it reflects that wish.

You’ll never fix the fear-based feelings that created the gun-culture of the US, especially from the Bench.

I agree with the SCROTUS decision. I truly cannot believe that it was a coincidence that the anti-Constitutional 1934 gun control act was made law just after Smedley blew the whistle on the pluto-fascist plotters.

Until we grow up and understand that tools do not act by themselves, and that if we want a world in which psychopaths and dangerous psychotics live under lock and key instead of shooting children, we need the government to scare us into actually thinking about how to solve problems in a way that favors us not them. Uvalde should tell us what we can expect: they’ll shoot unarmed citizens, but they cower in fear at the thought that they might have to go up against someone who might shoot them.

It’s interesting that there have been gun regulations in this country from the very beginning. Towns have historically had gun laws — heck, even out in the Wild West some towns made people check their guns before entering. This ruling is designed to kill people.

Saw a comedian once do a skit on gun rights…he made the point that if you want action on gun control, take away the metal detectors at the Capital building…by the end of the week, gun control would be so tight that the biggest threat to the public would be drive-by SHOUTINGS…which, of course, are protected by the First Amendment…(credit: Dennis Miller)

I find Thomas’s referencing “history and tradition” as the basis for the majority opinion to be ironically laughable! Justice Thomas, historically your ancestors were legally chattel property until 1863. And after that yoke was removed, traditionally those chattels became legally second-class citizens under Jim Crow laws. Were those times the times that “America was Great” that the conservatives wish us to return?

So SCOTUS made a ruling that was consistent with laws in 43 other states. I guess that will make it easier to navigate the myriad of laws when traveling from place to place. The ruling was not novel or unusual. After Heller and McDonald, it was very consistent.

The decision has no effect on the mass shootings, as the guy in Buffalo, NY with some of the most restrictive laws in the nation, still walked into the store with a weapon. Too bad no one had a weapon to stop him.

Well at least we don’t have to listen to republicans complain about judicial activism, they ARE legislating from the bench. It’d be a good day to announce the end of Roe, you know, legal precedent.

The Supreme Court of the ’70s was more liberal/Democrat, but even as a good Republican back then I decided it was better for America to have a court with a liberal tilt. The current Christian/GOP court shows why with every decision they make.

And yet.. I believe there are no guns allowed anywhere close to the Halls of Justice. Much like banning guns at trump’s rallies or the NRA conventions.. seems just a tad hypocritical.

Between the Republican Party and their improperly, if not illegally, constituted Supreme Court the US has, in just a matter of days, become little better than a Sharia run farce. Guns for everyone, everywhere, all the time and women reduced to chattel. Hope they’re proud of reducing us to third world “morality”.

Anyone know what the path to making Supreme court appointments term limit appointments would be? Meaning they are only on the court for a defined number of years. Would it require a constitutional amendment? A congressional law? No one should be able to serve through multiple (many) different presidents. The concept that one man (Trump or otherwise) can install a majority of judges for decades, IMHO, is ludicrous. Thoughts?
