With my previous doctor I’d make appointments for 0800 when the office opened. I’d come in and find it already full and never got to see him earlier than 1100. And then we wondered why my blood pressure was high.

Nurse called me. I said You made it with 2 minutes left. She asked what I meant. Me: I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment time. If I was not called 30 minutes after that time, I would have left. Retired or not, my time is as valuable as yours.

Their new tactic was to call within the time, get the prelims out of the way, then let me wait another 15 mins or more in exam room for doc to show. He would come in, mutter a bit and be out of there in under 10 minutes. Once I called them on that, they pleaded overbooking by their appointment service. I said,Either I get my full time with doc or you can have my slot for the next victim.

That may be what is called modern medicine. I don’t call causing my blood pressure to peak a good result. I have enough ailments as it is.

After we spent 2.5 hours in the waiting room & another 1.75 in the exam room in order to have one of Her doctors spend 5 minutes telling us things like “My brain operates on a whole different level” (I’m actually quoting there; he said that a lot) and how a CPAP would reverse the effects of all the TIAs that led to her VCI, as well as very other ailment (he was a cardiologist, BTW), I told them on the way out that he was rude & arrogant, that our time was at least as valuable as his, that he did not “operate on a whole different level”, and that we would not be back.

For once, She didn’t get upset with me for unloading.

Is there a hidden reason why “rest” rhymes with “stressed”?
