While Rod Serling was an excellent writer, his Twilight Zone adaptations were his way of showcasing the world of amazing science fiction writers to the general public. With an occasional original story thrown in as well.
A really old Twilight Zone. Centered around a book the Alien visitors had, ‘To Serve Man." When translated it turned out to be a cookbook. Bless Rod Sterling’s creative mind.

Damon Knight, 1950. Nine years before Rod Serling’s adaptation.

Be careful Broomie, they want to put you in a blender and turn you into Green Goddess dressing.

I would say they were purple people eaters but they do not match the “one eyed, one horned” description in the old song.

Broomie looks a bit dubious as Space Chef #2 measures her: she won’t require a terribly large pot!
Loved the Damon Knight 1950 short story….
