Saw an interview with a Canadian woman about mass shootings and they brought up the general reaction of Canadians to the unique mass shooting that they had in the past. She replied that almost immediately most people in Canada said (paraphrasing): WTF, we are not Americans!
Ain’t that the kick where we really feel it. To think that we were once the platinum standard for the country that all others wanted to be.
Well, our corrupt money can buy the best corrupt politicians who have no care or concern for others…including aspiring elementary school students. Thank SCOTUS for giving the law’s stamp of approval for the system of government that we now have.
Day 150 of the year, and has already 213 mass shootings in the U.S. 2021: 693 mass shootings. 2020: 611. 2019: 417. The general public views mass shooters as people who are totally crazy, insane. It fits with the idea of snapping, as if these people are totally detached from reality. But there is a very rational thought process that goes into planning and carrying out mass shootings. When is enough enough, when will the U.S. actually attempt to stop the epidemic of gun violence?
Hey Clay, idea for a future comic: We have heard over and over from the right that the January 6th attack on the Capital was just a “protest” because there were no weapons (aka firearms). Now Donnie Jr. is saying that the school massacre could have been done with a bat, doesn’t that make a bat a weapon? So…
Colt brought out the AR-15 Sporter in 1964. Over the next few decades, maybe 500,000 were sold. After Colt’s patent expired, some clever marketing people figured out they could make a lot of money selling these military style weapons by abandoning the wussy name “Sporter” & advertising their rifles with macho names like “Predator” & “Tactical.” Once associated with the horrors of Vietnam, they are advertised with images of men in military style camo & the line, “Use what they use.” No longer seen as a niche product that no serious hunter would want, AR-15s sell in the millions every year. All thanks to clever marketing exploiting the insecurity of fearful suburban dads.
Let’s have a little exercise. If the Feds decide to ban “Assault Weapons” will they Grandfather those in private hands already? That’s how Democrats did it in 1994, if no grandfathering how will they collect up those 40,000,000 in the world today, a buy back or house to house searches. Another question as to what will be banned; we all know MSNBC & CNN say AR-15’s, AK-47’s & Uzi’s are the devil but how about the M-1 Garand, Min-14, SKS or the 1873 Winchester, K98 or 03 Springfield Rifles them too? Let’s be honest for once most of you want everything taking away, by force if necessary, that is if someone else draws the short stick job of knocking down doors to take them away.
There is a lack of consensus on how to define a mass shooting. Most terms define a minimum of three or four victims of gun violence (not including the shooter) in a short period of time, although an Australian study from 2006 prescribed a minimum of five; and added a requirement that the victims actually died as opposed to being shot and injured but not necessarily killed.1
In the United States, the Investigative Assistance for Violent Crimes Act of 2012 defines mass killings as three or more killings in a single incident,2 however the Act does not define mass shootings. Media outlets such as CNN and some crime violence research groups such as the Gun Violence Archive define mass shootings as involving “four or more shot (injured or killed) in a single incident, at the same general time and location, not including the shooter”.3 Sometimes shootings involving three or more victims occur in non-public situations such as when one member of a family shoots all the other members in the family home. These killings are known as familicides and are not included in mass shooting statistics.
The motive for mass shootings (which occur in public situations) is a defining feature in that they are usually committed by deeply disgruntled individuals seeking revenge or payback for failures in school, career, romance and life in general.4 If multiple people are shot in a robbery or killed in a terrorist attack, these deaths are also not included under the definition of mass shootings.

The Constitution says ‘arms’, not guns. Justice Alito with his reasoning, could declare guns unconstitutional.

America has already suffered 11 mass shootings this Memorial Day weekend
