No surprise that Steve Kelley would look at another instance of mass genocidal firearm carnage, which we could easily remedy with simple solutions that have been proposed and which have been successful in EVERY OTHER INDUSTRIALIZED NATION IN THE WORLD and, instead of supporting common sense gun safety reforms, wants to POLITICIZE the tragic deaths of 19 school children, as he did ten years after Sandy Hook’s 20 school children and six educators, and make it an attack on public education.
Yeah, home schooling is great for a tiny extreme minority. Those lucky enough to have parents who are trained educational professionals and can design high level curricula are among the most successful. The vast majority, of course, flounder in the ignorance of the superstition, and historical, scientific and even mathematical revisionism now being peddled by those who see an educated populace as the greatest threat to their plan to subvert democracy and replace it with their own brand of theocracy.
SKelley, like all Trump Disciples, hates public education just like he and they hate anything that is public — public libraries, public health, anything public.
’Cause if people want their kids to be educated, they need to PAY for it, and not through taxes either. And anyway, taxes are immoral.

The problem is that we have an increasing number of people in the country with no moral or ethical values. Human life means nothing to them. The Texas shooting is tragic, but equally so are the daily killings in our major cities. We’re worrying about micro aggressions and using the correct pronoun while ignoring the many signals being given about very sick and dangerous people. Focusing on the guns is a distraction from the underlying problem.
Kelley is suggesting exactly the wrong solution. He was us to respond to a social problem by crawling into the cocoon of the family. Families are important, and everyone needs to grow up in a good family, but we also need to grown up in a good society—a society that promotes good families, by the way. Schools, good schools, are an important way to help children grow socially. We don’t give schools the resources they need to do the job. Home schooling is an individualist solution for a social problem. We need social solutions for social problems, and gun violence in the US is a social problem. I absolutely agree that we need better gun control laws, but I don’t think that’s enough. We need, as a whole society, to agree that violence is not the way to solve problems.
Fox News’ Coverage of the Uvalde Shooting Was Sickening
The reaction was especially egregious on Fox News, which decided to put bloviating pundits front and center as information about what happened became public, ignore even the most basic tenets of journalism in favor of reckless speculation, and bring on a steady procession of “experts” to offer harebrained solutions for the epidemic of people with guns killing people in schools. Media Matters put together of compilation of at least 50 of them.
I thought people like SKelley were against home schooling. Kids needed to be with their peers. being targets is just one of those things that come with a gun worshiping society…
The fact R’s are unwilling to even have a discussion about stopping the gun violence tells you all you need to know about much they care about being “pro-life”. They certainly are pro-birth…but caring about people, kids, babies, does not enter in to their concerns. I think it is more an issue of controlling women and their decisions…
