Expiration dates on non-consumables is the manufacture’s attempt to get you to buy something you already still have plenty of in the tube, bottle, etc.
According to Healthline [ https://www.healthline.com/health/does-shampoo-expire#safe-to-use]: ’ Expired products undergo a chemical change, which means they’re no longer effective at a high level. Using shampoo that’s past its use-by date can result in your hair looking dull and not as clean as you’d expect. At most, an expired product may cause itching or irritation to your scalp due to the chemical change’.
Manufacturers of personal care products such as makeup and skin care or hair care products aren’t required by law to label a product with an expiration date. But some doe and others include a “period after opening” suggestion, which gives the length of time you can expect a product to work as it should or be safe for use. This is shown in a little symbol that looks like small round container with a lid that gives the number of months the product can be used (e.g., 24M).
So I guess it’s OK to use shampoo until it makes you itch. My problem is the fancy new bottles make it hard to get the last inch or so out.

My gallon of Dr. Bronner’s lavender soap is 8 years old. I dilute it 6:1.
Don’t buy the peppermint because it may sting the privates…..

My hair migrated to the bottom of my head. To wash my face, I reach for the shampoo.
