I was amused by a different ‘toon in which Putin is warning Sweden and Finland about consequences, and they return "If you can’t even beat Ukraine then HOW are you going to cope with NATO??"
Putin managed to unite the West in general and NATO in particular; boost NATO strength; reawaken the German military; destroy the Russian economy; severely weaken and discredit the Russian military. Forget “Trump’s in league with Russia”; is Putin in league with the CIA? He couldn’t have done a better job for them if he’s been a CIA undercover plant…
Amazing how popular opinion can sway belief. Just a short 2 years ago this would have been an anti-NATO, anti-Ukraine, pro-Russian comic. Remember that horrible leader of Ukraine that refused to be extorted over military assistance by the loser US president and ended up getting him impeached? Zelenskyy is still in power and is now considered a hero to the average US citizen. How quickly sentiments change based on the shifting wind.
Hold on … There might be an idea for a movie comedy in this … a Black Russian comedy, so to speak …
Picture it: Vladimir Putin catches cold from running around with no shirt on (chasing his mistress around his palace) and is incapacitated by a viral “brain fever” (kuru (yes, I know it might be spread by cannibalism)) that seems likely to kill him. Since he has not designated a successor, his closest generals are in a quandary.
Putin was progressively irrational in his later years, getting into “special military operations” all over the place. This last one has riled Western countries enough that serious sanctions are forthcoming. Now, sanctions on Russia over the years have become like water off a duck’s back. But THESE sanctions affect the Russian oligarchs by seizure of their yachts and exposure of their wealth in Western countries. THIS cannot be allowed to continue!
The generals agree this latest war is untenable, for several reasons, and hatch a plot to change things. They set up a patsy to replace Putin. They choose an out-of-work McDonald’s employee, a bumbling fry cook (Nathan Lane?) who seems pliable. A Russian colonel (Brad Pitt) is assigned to manage him.
Lane, however, rebels to make startling changes to the Russian government, outwitting evil forces that oppose him. Pitt falls in love with Putin’s mistress, who has incriminating info via “pillow talk. The oligarchs lose all their money and property. Trump’s collusion with Putin is exposed. McDonald’s franchises reopen. Peace is once again at hand in Europe … church bells ring …
This “treatment” gets a little rushed at the end — but you get the idea.

There is a case to be made, this is totally what he had in mind. Putin needs an enemy in order to keep his hold on Russia.
