Happy 4th to all y’all! (Worked for a wildcat petro company in Texas for a couple of years in a previous life. I heard a lot of “all y’all” around the office. Heard from amused partners in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana that only Texans say that, and that the rest of the South just says “y’all”. Being from Los Angeles, I was indifferent about which one to use with the natives, but I enjoyed ruffling feathers by pronouncing “armadillo” and “Amarillo” as Spanish words.)
