NATIONAL VISIT YOUR RELATIVES DAY. My brother, Joe was going to visit me today and he was going to do some painting on the house. But the weather forecast is calling for rain, so he’ll do it another day.
Pouring rain here today. I guess it’s good I got in a super long walk yesterday as today I will stay home. I walked between 4 and 5 miles around the parks, zoo, ponds and gardens, then went home, ready for a late lunch. I went to put my old iPod in its case, which I had carried in a bag, and it was somehow gone, not in the bag. I bought the purple silk case 20 years ago in China and love it. I frantically ran out the door and tried to re-create my walk (I take different routes), looking for my case.
I didn’t think to bring water. And then, of course, it started to rain. No umbrella. I actually thought the rain might be good because it would discourage someone from picking it up and thinking it was a nice case and they wanted it, also often good people pick up dropped items and put them on a bench or whatever, away from puddles, so I was checking everywhere.
I walked the entire 4-5 miles again, plus a few circles where I wasn’t sure which path I had taken earlier. No case. I was walking home, depressed, exhausted, thirsty and hungry, and 1.5 blocks from my home, there it was, high up on a gate pillar. I had to reach over my head to get it. I got home at 5:00 p.m. and finally had water and lunch, but happy and grateful.
Very funny, Chesney, but not very nice. Love Annie’s expression in the second panel. On another note, saw eight robins, a sparrow, a towhee, a finch, and a junco while out walking today.
