Snatch in mid swoop and fly? That’s not how hawks do it. He should have swooped down, knocked the wiener to the ground, dispatched it, plucked off the bits he didn’t want, maybe eaten a few beakfuls, and then flown off with what was left only after making sure he had a firm grip on the remains.
I think hawks have the right feet for it. But one can adapt. There are actually some species of duck that live in trees, which would seem to be going about it the hard way.
