So yes, it does look like the Republicans, and their Federalist Society-approved judges, finally caught the car they have been chasing for fifty years.

Now let them face the backlash at the ballot box.

But before that, since the leaked document is just the first draft and not final yet, the Democrats should play one more hand.

Brett Kavanaugh LIED in his confirmation hearings. He LIED about his past history as a college-aged frat boy serial rapist and he LIED about how he perceived Roe v. Wade in terms of being an established precedent and settled law, both in his hearings under oath and in his private meetings with the very gullible Susan Collins.

As to the rape charges, recall that Mitch McConnell, who was majority leader at that time, blocked the full FBI investigation, blocked most evidence and only allowed one of the four accusers who courageously came forward to testify. If all evidence had been uncovered and all witnesses allowed to testify, Kavanaugh probably would have been overwhelmingly voted down in a bipartisan vote.

They’re trying to distract the majority of all US voters who want Roe v Wade to remain the law of the land. And they’re blaming the DEMOCRATS for pitysake.

That’s out of the way. Now they can get started on Social Security, that is also not mentioned in the Constitution. And what about public schools? Not in the Constitution. Have at it, Alito.

It reminds me of our family beagle named Nixie, for we received her the night of the election of 1968. She started chasing death in March 1969 and caught it.

One can hope.. that enough republican women have the fortitude to stand against their man and vote to stop this attack on women’s rights.

Oh, hell; they stopped abortions. We Republicans never really wanted that to happen; we only wanted to scream about it. Now we have nothing to run on on the next elections.

I posted this elsewhere late last night, but I thought it was worth posting again: I grew up in a small southern town, about thirty miles from Washington, D.C. Back in the 1960s, before Row v. Wade, our town had a local abortion provider. He was a respected member of the community. He made his living as a technical writer and editor, and his wife taught at the elementary school. I don’t know how widely it was known that he also performed abortions, but obviously some people knew, enough to keep him in business. When I was a senior in high school he mentioned it to me and told me to keep him in mind if anyone I knew might need his services. Then in the late 1960s, I don’t remember exactly when, he was arrested, tried, and convicted and served about 18 months in prison. What interested me most about the whole story was the reaction of my mother and her circle of friends. They were all quite respectable middle aged women, many of them regular church goers, the upper class of our community, and they all supported him. They all thought that abortion should be legal and they felt that he was performing an important service for the women in the area. I have no idea if any of them had ever had an abortion, but I kind of doubt it. When he got out of prison, they welcomed him back and continued to socialize with him and his wife as if nothing had happened. I think a lot of women share their feelings.

In the age of Rumpism and the lying GQP and their cult the process to seat SCOTUS justices with their lifetime appointments needs to be changed. The GQP wouldn’t agree to it which is exactly why it needs to be done. Moving the country backwards isn’t the answer that most of the country wants.

while the GOP is lying its head off to deny their active support for abortion rights; Ha, they finally see they just might lose the support of women. Keep ’em barefoot and pregnant is their fervent wish. I wish we could abort the GOP.

How many States will decide to give “Birthing Persons” unfettered access to ending their pregnancy. My guess is more than most will choose to allow everything that is legal today. Stands to reason if the Polls are accurate.

My fervent hope is that women voters of every persuasion will fight back against being forced to becoming “factory uteruses” with absolutely no choice… even if that means certain death, which in certain medical circumstances it will.

Laws about women’s bodies enacted by male politicians who have absolutely no knowledge of female anatomy and it’s medical needs are criminally lethal bludgeons to minimize and denigrate women and girls. There oughta be a law against lawmakers who keep weaponizing the ability to indenture women. Because,…well …ya know….women should know their place .. mmmm????….(S)

Yes, but the odd thing is that professional “conservatives” gloated over their victory for approximately ten seconds and then swung right into fulminating, bombinating, and thumping and raging about THE LEAK!!! You almost get the idea that they hope that people won’t think about the real “abortion” in the picture, Alito’s resort to sophistry, hair-splitting, and non-arguments to justify his “opinion”.

Baroden, “the white man’s woman hater club”, judging from the films of the various demonstrations, has a large Lady’s Auxiliary. The men I can understand the existence of, though I hope they understand my wish that they all very quickly see undertakers. The women…? Every time I seem them, I shake my head. No matter how many times I see them, I still have to work through my bewilderment.

You can find the original Roe v. Wade decision on line. It’s a very easy read — maybe 20 minutes — written more like a magazine article than a doctoral dissertation by Justice Harry Blackmun, former legal counsel for the Mayo Clinic, who knew he was writing for a much broader audience than the legal community. I’d like to hear Alito try to go thru it a point at a time and try to tell us where Harry got it wrong. (Not just Harry, either, it was a 7-2 decision. “Wrongly decided”, my ass!)

Anti-abortion advocates hinge their arguments on the concept that “If it’s alive, it deserves protection.” Really? Think about that for a minute.

A sperm and egg cell can combine to make a new cell which, UNDER THE PROPER CONDITIONS, will eventually turn into a human being.

Each and every one of the trillions of cells in a human body is a living thing. And, with modern cloning techniques, it can serve as the host for inserted DNA and itself become a zygote which, UNDER THE PROPER CONDITIONS, will become a person.

Thus, every time some “pro-life” person scratches his nose, he’s killing off not only existing living things but thousands of potential people.

About one out of five pregnancies ends in miscarriage, making God the most prolific abortionist of all time! Role model, you think?

The self-proclaimed pro-life* crowd is entirely too obsessive about the imaginary people they claim to be concerned about. They need to calm down, switch off their circuit diagrams, get out of their blueprints, sit in the shade of their acorns, listen to the pleasant songs of the eggs, and stop to smell the pollen.

McConnell packed the court. Now the Democrats should pay back the favor. And while we’re at it let’s add a term cap on the bench, 20 or 30 years max. Yes, that is Constitutional. No where does it state that it is a life time appointment.
