Wanda is my daughter in law. She projects her dislike for water and perhaps irrational fear of water onto her kids. She wouldn’t get into the water and introduce them to swimming pool. I had to do with all three of her children. Ironically, the youngest was born in a wading pool, a water birth, and is the one who dislikes water the most.
All three of my girls loved the water. Remember when we were traveling to a new duty station and stopped at a motel for the night. Went to the pool to relax before going to bed. The oldest was about four and couldn’t swim, She broke away from her mother, ran to the edge of the pool yelling “catch me daddy” and jumped. She fell several feet short, came to the surface and dog paddled to me as I moved in to grab her. Once in my arms, smiled, said “that was fun, I want to do it again”. We did and before the swim session was done, she was kicking and gliding through the water.
My mom never did that with sister and I swimming lessons, I learned swimming in HS though never used it gain, when I had my daughter I paid for her swimming lessons during summer time as small school did not have a school or HS swimming pool, son never learned and never wanted to go swimming unlike his sister.
OK folks, don’t blame Wanda. It’s just possible the problem is the kid. That was me all over. Hated water in the ears. Hated not being able to see behind my back. Hated having to take my feet off the bottom. I can’t swim to this day, and it wasn’t for lack of my parents trying to get me to learn.

I’m not sure the mouthless man likes to be called Mommie. Why not “parents”?

Shouldn’t Wanda’s hair look straighter when it’s wet?

She’s got two other kids and she’s still worried about this one?

She’s a third-time mom — she should be well past this stage.

I’m looking forward to my kid learning how to swim, but that doesn’t mean I won’t have to deal with my own anxiety about it!
