How many HS coaches let players dictate what happens in practice? How many players want to run gassers for 90 minutes while the rest of the team is practicing? That is exactly what is ahead for this knucklehead.
P3 is just too stupid. Even for this comic strip. It’s about time for The Gilfather to lift his head up out of that mug of Mojitos he’s inhaling over at MCC and step in to end this madness.
Gotta give credit to yappy chihuahua Eli the Scooooter, that is a next-level move to out-Thorp Thorp, second in the Valley (or lower) is all but assured!
It’s not just “comebackers.” It’s also stuff like pop-ups, covering bases, fielding throws from the outfield, preventing stolen bases, and possibly batting. Pitchers have to be able to handle a lot more tasks than just pitching, and Gregg is a severe liability in all of them. Writing around it by pretending it’s all just not happening doesn’t make the story any more believable.
This plot just gets worse every day. Have either one of the authors ever played any HS sport? These plots are so totally unrealistic, I have to wonder were the authors are getting the basic plots, IMHO a fifth grader would write better stories
After being told in P1 by a student just what they will be doing in practices this week, Kaz goes home and phones Gil to let him know that they won the game. Gil asks whether they have any more games remaining, Kaz says “Yeah, probably”, and Gil asks whether Kaz knows where Mimi and the softball team went and whether they will be back before summer.
And Kazzzz proves the assumption that the coaches just don’t give a damn. “Sounds good to me! Someone who fields for crap can be fixed just by practicing grounders with a teammate for one day on the weekend.” I was wondering what Scooooter’s hairbrained scheme to help Gregggg’s fielding would be. Having it turn out to be, do nothing and hope NOBODY HITS A GROUNDER TO HIM OR BUNTS for the rest of the season is pretty dumb. And speaking of dumb, today’s Mopped Up Thorp is online.
So how does this get resolved? Will Gregggg get hit by a line drive, and while he’s in the hospital his vision problem gets exposed? Then (insert random character) has a connection to a specialist and he gets scheduled for some specialized surgery that will cure him? I’m putting down a C-note on that scenario with Vito.
