It is not just guys. If you watch a movie enough, the whole script gets in your brain.

It gets worse if you listen to too much Firesign Theatre.

I don’t to do this, because my wife will correct me. She has an amazing memory. She also watches about 20 movies for every one I do.

I wonder why she thinks it’s a male’s thing. I do it all the time!

It’s not gender specific. My three daughters speak in movie lines all the time

The line Strother Martin spoke in ‘Cool Hand Luke’ was actually “What we have here is failure to communicate” without the A. The line is almost always misquoted and I am surprised Mr. Thompson didn’t confirm it before publishing the strip.

There are several other similar misquotes. For example, the line “Play it again Sam” was never spoken in ‘Casablanca’. The actual dialogue was:

Ilsa: Play it once, Sam. For old times’ sake.

Sam: I don’t know what you mean, Miss Ilsa.

Ilsa: Play it, Sam. Play “As Time Goes By.”

Consider it a divorce!

I realize it was movies he was quoting, but I think it should have ended with: “I love it when a plan comes together.”

Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.

I was hoping somebody would have tried to name all the movies he’s quoted…
