With inflation, we are now paying out a lot more in taxes. If an item that used to be a dollar with an 8% sales tax, we paid 8 cents in sales tax. If that same item with inflation is now two dollars (being conservative here), we are now paying 16 cents in sales tax (double from previous).

Every effort to get rid of the penny was met with “then things that are $.99 will become $1” but that was just shopkeepers framing it. They sell something for $.99 because it sounds less than $1.00. To keep the illusion, they’d have to drop the price to $.95.

The solution is to have tax included in the prices like it is for gasoline. Of course, that would just give merchants an excuse to raise their prices to even dollar values. Guess that isn’t the solution after all. There is enough greed in the business world as it is already.

Don’t worry! The CDC said we need to eliminate all paper and coins as they spread Coronavirus and other virus outbreaks. You will need to pay by electronic transfer. Without touching anyone.

So that was the origin of the Dollar $tore?

(What amuses me is that Dollar $tores are found all over Europe (and beyond?), where dollars are not currency.)
