I used to love the last day of school. The sun felt brighter and even the air seemed different.

101 days, 16 hours, and 55 minutes until school starts again. That’s Wednesday, September 7 at 3:39 AM, if my calculations are correct, although Jason may be in a different time zone.

Jason seems the sort to learn as much on his own as they can teach him at any normal school, even with advanced placement classes. Maybe it’s the sense of superiority he gets by comparing himself with others. Not counting Eileen.

“There’s a hundred and four days of summer vacation ’Til school comes along just to end it”

When I had my knee replaced, I was housebound for a while and discovered the “joys” of daytime TV. 300 channels, 200 of which are infomercials, 100 of which are for the Shark vacuum.

Of the remainder, there were soap operas, inane game shows and reruns of shows shown the previous day. Even the news channels seemed to be on an endless belt loop tape repeating the same “breaking news” for hours on end.

So Phineas and Ferb was one of the better programs on TV. Of course, it is designed for kids but there is a lot of clean adult humor sprinkled in. The program includes many cultural references that are beyond school children’s experience.

I timed my breaks to ice up my knee so I could watch it.
