Neither duke would last long in a practical world. If Xi wrote his own Analects, in accordance with his lack of ethical character, they would serve primarily to “Confuse-us” into submission.
Hey, wait a minute, like the rest of the world, he’s not supposed to deal with russia… Now, how the heck are we gonna “sanction” him when 90% of a US household stuff is made in china, from cooking pots to electronics, to appliances…
China has been holding off on supporting Russia, even economically. No threats have been made to China but government ministers fear the West might impose limitations on technology imported into the nation if they do so.
A good thing about Putin and the Russian army proving to be so inept is that China will be thinking twice about any alliance with Russia. China would want a partner that can be effective with larger states that Chechnya and Georgia.

Russia has no economy to offer. What Xi wants is Thailand and other parts of the world, so is afraid to be critical of a Russia doing the same thing.
