Art for the not-do-discerning art collector with disposable income, key word being ‘disposable’. One persons’ trash can be transformed into another persons’ piece of ‘art,’ and some fool will buy it.
Notice that Zeke sincerely encourages and praises her. Mike would probably have just belittled her efforts and dismissed her work as “trash” despite the fact that it is clearly important to J.J. Thus, in some ways, J.J. gets from Zeke what she couldn’t get from Mike. That doesn’t “excuse” anything, of course, but it offers a bit of insight as to why she was unhappy in their marriage.
The handlebars on the “head” are facing backward…and it’s closed, unable to be used.
So even if it could “think” (with the moving pedals as the metaphorical wheels in its “head”), it would be “thinking” into the past, not into the future.
You would think a “post-hardware paradigm” would use less hardware. :)
The art jargon reminds me of “A Charles Paris Mystery” on BBC Radio. While appearing in an alternative theater production, another actor asks him, “What is a ‘polemical performance installation dialectic’?”.

Actually, it is pretty good. A neat piece of installation art.
And interactive too if the punters can pedal the machines.

Trying to imagine the effort it took to get that together. She’s got more strength than I gave her credit for.

I once had a Transformers Stationary Bike. Within three months of purchase, it had transformed into a coat rack.

And thus, triumphantly, JJ answers all critics while demonstrating the hollow worthlessness of Mike and his generation’s weltanschauung, man.
