The Supreme Court’s present term ends in June so the confirmation will occur before the mid-terms. McTurtle will be disgraced and shunned by the Alt-Reich and vilified by Farce News for not being able to block another Democratic president’s appointment.
What can be done to restore the trust/respect/honor/dignity of SCOTUS as seen unanimously by all US citizens? Or are we no longer a representative republic but a mere facade for opposing political forces [fighting each other for control] that have no regard for the electorate nor ability to solve problems?
no-willie should go to a court and be tried by drunks, cult members who follow orders of those with nothing to do with the judicial system, and sexual abusers like we have on the Reich wing side of the SCOTUS. Even for a parking ticket he’d get an education in the “Just this…” and the “Just Us” system that would make him wet himself. But then again, he’d probably like that, and wouldn’t have to pay for it like Rumpy did.
Get rid of lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court and make them 15 or 20 years instead. At present, getting “one of yours” on the Court has become the crown jewel of American politics and made a mockery of what a court is supposed to be—a sober, even-handed and apolitical body that interprets the law. A retiring judge shouldn’t warrant a massive headline equivalent to a war breaking out. That it does only illustrates how broken our system is.
“Where is Biden’s Pacific Islander nominee? Why isn’t there an American Indian on the court? Or a genderqueer? Or someone from the chronic fatigue syndrome community, or a justice with cognitive disabilities?”— Fox’s Tucker Carlson, on Biden pledge to nominate the Supreme Court’s first Black woman justice

Doubt it can be made better with one appointment. But at least it can be kept from getting worse.

I hope we keep the status quo until we can improve matters.

Tucker Carlson was all bent out of shape last night because Biden wasn’t going to nominate a hardcore right-wing white male. The poor baby.

One can only hope for a balance that will keep all of them honest and impartial.

This Court is at least consistent. We can usually predict what their decision will be, the mystery is in how they justify said decision.
