Unfortunately, there are Not two sides of the same. The GOP Big Lie is a Fact… and So is their attempt at voter-suppression. The Dem side is a Big Truth, and should be noted as such.
Tell that to the American citizens that now find it more difficult and are now disenfranchised from the system.
I’ll gladly address every shred of legitimate evidence of voter fraud personally, in kind. It oughta take me about 8 seconds if I don’t have any coffee while I’m addressing it.
Democracy in America isn’t going to renew itself on a wave of demographic inevitability. The combination of targeted vote-suppression, gerrymandering, partisan interference in vote certifications, a grossly unrepresentative senate, the electoral college & far-right control of the Supreme Court can work quite effectively at keeping an authoritarian RWNJ regime in power in spite of not having majority popular support.
Does anyone really assume that the fascists won’t prevail because this is America & democracy always wins out?
Yeah, Ramirez, go ahead and bark that empty declaration. People see the closed polling locations, the restrictions on which Americans are actually eligible to vote, district gerrymandering, poll intimidation, and especially the absolute, total lack of any political platform that is motivating Republicans to block any attempt at voter rights legislation.
Well, Michael Ramirez has to “swallow the Camel” of the “Big Lie”. If Michael doesn’t, his hero, Trump, will frown on him. That would be very embarrassing.
This last debacle shows just how precarious “democracy” is when you have a carnival barker calling the shots. Propaganda is very effective at swaying gullible minds.. and the world has witnessed just how gullible Americans can be.
When I registered to vote in 1971, I had to show my birth certificate as proof of my right to vote. The polls were open during certain hours at limited places. Absentee ballots were available for citizens who happened to be out of the country or far from home. We voted. The implication today is that people who are unwilling to put any effort at all into casting their vote should be pandered too. To suggest that the only people this applies to are people of color is insulting and patronizing. The Republicans run on making their voters afraid of phantoms, and the Democrats try to gain voters by telling them they are worthless and need elite leaders. We Americans can and ought to do better than this!
LMAO! THE big lie that’s still being spewed….GOP has lost it’s grip on reality! Now they’ve all turned to cults and conspiracy theories as their platform! Pitiful and a disgrace to our democracy and government
I am a member of a large state wide PAC. Three years ago we interviewed a young man for Secretary of State. A member of the Federalist Society the strongest point that he wanted us to understand was that he was the only “election law” lawyer running.
When I asked him how election LAW differed from election RIGHTS his reply was that it was his duty as an elected official to ensure that the law itself was not violated. I could not argue there.
So far I have no reason to doubt his integrity. I would like to think he would have endured the same pressure TFG placed upon the SOS in GA.
But I would still feel better if those rights were better protected by laws.
Ramirez acknowledges that Republicans are involved in the Big Steal. That it exists and was a real thing. He fails to call for those responsible to be held accountable. But he does acknowledge it.
And then he flips the coin, and blames Democrats for their reaction to the Big Steal. He is shocked when Democrats want the tools used for it to be taken away.
poor mikie…he really believes that…he really believes giving a bottle of water to someone standing in line for hours just to vote is a criminal offence…
he really believes having just one drop box for ballots in each county of texas is a good idea and fair, even though some of those counties cover hundreds of miles and poorer people may not drive and places like houston or dallas have many millions of people who will have to stand in line to drop off a ballot for …probably months….
he really believes it’s a great idea to pack voter commissions and change rules so legislators can change the will of the people just ‘cause they want to and the people didn’t vote for their candidate…
he really believes sending ‘alternate’ reps to the electoral college is fair and just and the American Way…especially because it helps old white rich guys stay in power…God Bless America ..so long as those ‘uppity’ people of color or the poor or the less advantage do what they are told …pay the most in taxes…and stay in line…right mikie…
poor mikie…seems smart…but just a kool-aid drinking…rich-white guy, hell with the will of he people wannabe….
And there you have it, folks. How to tell if an election is valid: if the Republican wins the election was obviously stolen. But if the Democrat wins, the election was as pure as the driven snow, and anyone who challenges that should be thrown in jail.
Consequently, President Biden, realizing the Dems are going to get hammered next November, has preemtively declared the 2022 elections to be illegitimate.
So expect the MSM to parrot that for the next ten months. But it doesn’t matter, because the Dems are STILL going to get hammered.
Barr has spoken to January 6 committee, chairman say
“We’ve had conversations with the former attorney general already. We have talked to Department of Defense individuals,” Thompson, a Democrat from Mississippi, said in an interview with “Face the Nation” when asked if the committee intended to speak with Barr about a draft executive order reportedly given to former President Donald Trump that would have directed the Defense Department to seize voting machines after he lost the 2020 election.
“We are concerned that our military was part of this big lie on promoting that the election was false. So, if you are using the military to potentially seize voting machines, even though it’s a discussion, the public needs to know. We’ve never had that before,” he continued.
Several news outlets last week published the draft executive order that was obtained by the select committee as part of a trove of documents it requested from the National Archives last year. Trump sued to block the committee from getting the reams of records from his White House, but the Supreme Court last week declined to block their release, clearing the way for the National Archives to turn the documents over to House investigators.
The draft executive order, first published by Politico, was never issued, and it’s unclear who wrote the document. Dated December 16, 2020, the order would have authorized the secretary of defense to “seize, collect, retain and analyze all machines, equipment, electronically stored information, and material records required for retention” under a federal law governing the retention and preservation of election records.
Thompson said the committee does not know whether there was anyone within the Pentagon working on the issue of possibly seizing voting machines, but said the draft executive order “is reason enough to believe that it was being proposed.”
Trump should have been ‘vaporized’ the moment he announced he won: Ann Coulter
Before that she claimed the best thing that could have happened for the GOP would have been for Trump to have been “vaporized” after he was first elected.
Last week, Coulter made waves with a full-throated attack on Trump in a column where she wrote, "No one wants Trump. He’s fading faster than Sarah Palin did — and she was second place on a losing presidential ticket.”
“DeSantis is better than Trump, for many, many reasons, including: He won’t bring Jared and Ivanka into the White House.”
She then added that she thinks the Florida Republican can dash Trump’s hopes of re-election, writing, "He’s mostly just ignoring the 11-year-old. Unlike Trump, DeSantis has a day job.”
Ramirez: Democrats want all American citizens to be able to vote easily (and have their votes fairly counted). Republicans want only people who are likely to vote Republican to be able to vote. Which one is the party suppressing voting?
Republican efforts to restrict voting following the 2020 presidential election
Following the 2020 United States presidential election and attempts by Donald Trump and Republican officials to overturn it, Republican lawmakers initiated a sweeping effort to make voting laws more restrictive. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, as of October 4, 2021, more than 425 bills that would restrict voting access have been introduced in 49 states—with 33 of these bills enacted across 19 states so far. The bills are largely centered around limiting mail-in voting, strengthening voter ID laws, shortening early voting, eliminating automatic and same-day voter registration, curbing the use of ballot drop boxes, and allowing for increased purging of voter rolls. Republicans in at least eight states have also introduced bills that would give lawmakers greater power over election administration after they were unsuccessful in their attempts to overturn election results in swing states won by Democratic candidate Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
Supporters of the bills argue they would improve election security and reverse temporary changes enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic; they point to false claims of significant election fraud, as well as the substantial public distrust of the integrity of the 2020 election those claims have fostered,[a] as reasons to tighten election laws. Opponents argue that the efforts amount to voter suppression, are intended to advantage Republicans by reducing the number of people who vote, and would disproportionately affect minority voters they point to reports that the 2020 election was one of the most secure in American history to counter claims that election laws need to be tightened and argue that public distrust in the 2020 election arises from falsehoods pushed by Republicans, especially former president Donald Trump.
Stalin: Those who vote have no power, Those who count the votes have all of the power. The JHayes corollary is Those who select those that count the votes have all the power.
