I think he was overly optimistic. And then the universe keeps dropping caltrops into his path. This isn’t, imo, an accurate assessment of why he’s not doing well.
Biden was elected to a FOUR YEAR TERM. He is just completing the FIRST QUARTER — far too early to claim his presidency has failed, especially since he has, contrary to the CONSERVATIVE MEDIA, already accomplished so much despite unprecedented obstruction and with so much damage to undo from the devastation and destruction wrought by his Russian-installed predecessor, and he is just getting started.
I hate picking on Biden, as heaven knows, he’s tryin’, but he needs to GET TOUGHER. Sign some executive orders, and kick some QOP a**, or we are looking at Trump 2024, a Republican totalitarianism, and the religious right sitting on our chests for the rest of our lives.
Despite Republicans undermining efforts, here is a short list of President Biden’s accomplishments:
Vaccines: “490 million shots in arms … At this time last year: less than 1% of Americans were fully vaccinated. Today: More than 71% of American adults are fully vaccinated.”
First shot: “At the start of the year: just one-third of adults were eager to get vaccinated. Today, 85% of adults have had their first shot.”Schools open: When Biden took office, “46% of schools were open. Today, 99% of schools are open.”
Jobs: “The economy added nearly six million jobs this year — the most of any first-year president in history. When POTUS took office, … unemployment was 6.3%. Today it’s 4.2%.”
“The average number of Americans filing for unemployment over the last four weeks is at its lowest level since 1969. When POTUS took office, over 18 million were receiving unemployment benefits. Today, only 2 million are.”Child poverty: “Because of the [$1.9 trillion] American Rescue Plan and historic economy recovery, child poverty was cut in half.”
GDP: “Without the ARP, Moody’s estimates 2021 growth at 2.9%. After ARP: On pace for growth of 5-6 percent — best since 1984.”
“U.S. was only G7 country [U.S., U.K., Canada, Japan, Germany, France and Italy] to surpass pre-pandemic output by Q2 2021 and keep growing. No other G7 country had reached pre-pandemic output by end of 3Q 2021.”Long-term unemployed: “In President Biden’s first 10 months, long-term unemployment fell by 1.8 million — the greatest drop in long-term unemployment in U.S. history.”
I am greatly disappointed in Joe. I will grant that half is failures are due to selfish people in his own party.
Joe has to play hardball and he’s not up to the task. He’s a nice guy and I like him, but he’s Jimmy Carter II.
Call Manchin out. He won’t turn Republican. If he does that, he becomes the junior-most Senator with NO power. Now he knows that he has the Democratic party by the proverbial balls and enjoys exercising his inflated power. Tell him to be a team player or none of his bills will ever see the light of day. Call his bluff and he will fold.
Perhaps Biden was too hopeful that the old across-the-aisle relationships of “yore” would still prevail? The de facto “Divided” States of America is nothing like the United States of America it once was … when differences were put aside to make the nation stronger with a common goal.
Puppet Biden is a failure President, and has accomplished nothing. Puppet Biden has failed America and he has failed Working Americans. Puppet Biden has accomplished as being The President of Poverty.
Biden has the impossible task of trying to deal with 35 to 40% of the country that believes every lie put out by Rump, the GQP and it’s propaganda outlets. The rest is politics, as usual.
Another example of the double standard in American politics. A Democrat is a failure if he doesn’t magically create a utopia. A Republican is a smashing success if he can spell cat two times out of three.
I said this same thing on another political cartoon, and it’s applicable for this one also. It’s easy to pile on Joe Biden as ineffectual when the dark reality is that the 50-year GOP campaign to sabotage democracy, discourse, compromise and progress in the name of oligarchy is paying infinite dividends to the nation’s greediest billionaires who can’t stand taxes or the cost of a decent civilization. The real blame for American devolution resides in its radical right-wing dollarcracy, carefully designed over decades to destroy any chance for American democracy.
This cartoon implies Biden is too stupid to know how to get things done in Washington. But Biden has been pulling as hard as he can. But his adversaries have been pulling even harder from the other side.
The problem with the stalled Biden agenda is not that Manchin and Sinema are unreasonable, it’s that they’re unreachable. For different reasons. When you’re dealing with someone like Manchin, who votes against his own measures, you know you’re in trouble. (Manchin is also a little delusional. He claimed that the reason Publicans were lined up against Biden’s initiatives was that they were couched the right way. He was encouraged to show how to do it right. And the Publicans voted against that, too. Oops.) As for Sinema, she’s just a very strange person in all sorts of ways. Possibly she relishes the role of being mistress of the universe and having everyone she knows paying attention to her, which will stop the moment she rejoins her party. Cinderella complex or something.
Saved the economy during a pandemic. Lifted children out of poverty. Got us out of Afghanistan (even though he was hobbled by Trump’s negotiated agreement). Most jobs ever created in a president’s first year. A for-real infrastructure bill.
Yes, a pandemic he didn’t start (and Trump didn’t manage). Inflation he didn’t cause (it’s a worldwide problem). Supply chain issues driving that inflation he cannot solve as president. All bummers. He has the thinnest possible majority in the House and Senate—a Senate where majority certainly does NOT rule. But, most of all…..
He’s not Trump. And for that, all Americans should be grateful.
Fox News Hands Biden Highest Approval Number of All Polls in the Last Month
President Joe Biden’s latest approval numbers came in on Sunday, and the best numbers of any poll last month came from none other than Fox News.
The network, which regularly takes issue with Biden and the way his administration has handled things, released a new survey on Sunday, giving him a 47% approval rating. Compared to most other surveys released over the last month, Fox’s numbers are several points higher, and mark one of Biden’s highest ratings since November.
FiveThirtyEight, which aggregates these numbers and tracks the reliability of the pollsters “based on the historical accuracy and methodology of each polling organization’s polls,” gives Fox News an A rating.
That said, Fox News also pointed out the high (and growing higher) disapproval ratings for the president in other areas.
According to their survey, 52% of people disapprove of his handling of the pandemic (up from 38% in April 2021), 54% disapprove of his handling of foreign policy (up from 41% in April 2021), 58% disapprove of his handling of the economy (up from 42% in April 2021) and 59% disapprove of his handling of border security (up from 51% in April 2021).

A big problem is Democrat politicians are not afraid of Biden. The last Democrat prez with that kind of power was LBJ in his first years.

The reality is that Biden has done a great job — but the pundits can’t admit it
Think back to where we were by the second half of 2020, almost four years into:
water cannon of lies
a cabinet of grifters and thieves
disastrous and deadly Covid denial
child separation
The Helsinki Putin bootlicking affair
the “I would like you to do us a favor though” abuse“
some very fine people on both sides”
the exploding tally of outrages, 300,000 jobs and $300 billion lost to the China trade war
racism-racism-racism
the Syria pullout disaster
the Paris accord pullout disaster
the Doha Agreement with the Taliban that set off a ticking time bomb in Afghanistan
the tsunami of Republican federal judges
the McConnell/Barrett swindle
the birth and growth of the Big Lie
our country’s turbo-charged fracturing into polarized shards
the armed coup attempt
and the second impeachment.
