He’s not going to get anywhere until he offers to lower taxes on the obscenely rich. And even then, I have my doubts. I liked the part of the speech where he said “Tell me what the Republicans are for!” … and not just because you can read it to mean they are useless as well as what he intended: Do they actually want something positive, or are they entirely “anti”?
At least the first year of a president from one party is spent recovering from and realigning the machinations of the other party chief. It doesn’t help to have ones own throwing crap in the fan.
More could have been done had not two members of his party blocked most efforts. Wonder if they are bucking to become the next national ticket?
I think Biden should have laid out everything he didn’t accomplish and tell the public they need to ask people like Manchin why they weren’t accomplished.
I do predict that one of his objectives, ending the filibuster, will happen the moment the Republicans take control of the Senate.
There was a President that struggled to push the large stone up hill against Republicans many years ago. He was able to do so once the people believed in Hope and helped him. He wasn’t able to stand on his own two feet. He had a lot of things to deal with like a recession, unemployment, the dust bowl and a World War to name a few. People believed in him and got behind him to help push. Amazing what got accomplished when America worked together for everyone and not just a few.
The founders tried to envision a form of government that would and could handle the concept of “freedom, equality, and justice for all” without failing or falling into the trap of individual power grabs. Yep, we have failed. We are now a government that kisses up to individuals who hold to ransom the performance of by the will of the people to squeeze-plays of "for me, for my profit, for my self-opinionated right to make a (good…bad…indifferent) decision for the entire country and overriding the opposing will of the people.
So much for a beautiful “great experiment of enlightened self-government”. ….sigh…

Keep rolling the rock up the hill. As Camus wrote, the point is to do it as well as it can possibly be done.

And at the bottom of the Capitol Hill, two Grimm gremlins dance together around a bonfire of rejected compromises and sing this song —
“DINOSLITSKIN”
Today I’ll sulk, tomorrow I’ll stew
And so will Kirsten Sinema, too.
We block Joe Biden’s agenda,
The Dems must give up and surrenda’.
The legislative process blighted,
That McConnell imp’s most delighted!
Still no one dares call us to shame:
DINOslitskin Twins our name.

Seems to me that we have failed the Big Exam.

Well, at least the corporate welfare part of the infrastructure bill passed. Just like Obamacare, it’s deja vu all over again.
