Seems to me that we see Sue in the cafeteria quite often.

Got locked in by weather up on Shemya, AK, back in ‘73. We heard an airplane circling above the clouds and the rumor was the commander of Elmendorf AFB had his personal aircraft flying overhead with a resupply of booze. (Probably was a food resupply plane.) Guys talked about shooting it down to salvage any cans or bottles that survived. (We had no weapons to do that.)

The NCO club sold Budweiser from 1968 in steel cans, no pull tab, for five cents. Old soldiers would open your can with their P-38, if you bought them a can.

That was the only time I ate green eggs and something else, I’m not sure what. Before I started eating I started to pray over the “food” and one guy asked, “How can you bless this ‘mess’”? I responded, “I’ve never seen anything that needed blessing more.” The rest of the soldiers at the table bowed their heads in either prayer or agreement.

For true accounts of being snowed in at school, read about the US blizzard of 1888, aka “The Children’s Blizzard.”
