They (Ds and Rs) try to make everyone believe there are only two choices but there is a third party in the U.S. on the ballot nationwide, the Libertarian Party.

The Republican Party is self-destructing because it has become overloaded with radicals. The Democratic Party should, for the same reason. Is there a median group?

In states with new Voter ID/election nullification laws, Republican* is the ONLY option.

For a small office, you might be able to be independent. But as long as you need a majority of the Electoral College to win the Presidency, there will be two major parties. Three major parties means that Congress picks the President. Both the Democrats and the Republicans are coalitions of smaller groups that joined together to get 51%.

If the Republican Party fractures – which they might since they’ve decided they want to be the “Worship Trump Party” – the traditional Republicans who split will pick up right-leaning Democrats, and there will be two major parties again.

After the 2020 presidential election, hundreds of threatening messages, emails, and voicemails were left for elections workers across the country.

This is especially true in election hotspots like Georgia’s Fulton County, where officials were harassed for months over the phone and by email.

Local law enforcement has not held anyone accountable, and some workers fear continued harassment in future elections.

Importantly, these calls weren’t anonymous. Instead, they were made by people from across the country who believe the false conspiracy that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump—and that election workers in Fulton County were to blame for massive electoral fraud.

VICE News called them back. These messages were sent without shame: Of the threatening messages reviewed by VICE News, almost all contained the phone numbers, email addresses, or names of the people who had sent or left them.

None regretted leaving threatening messages or expressed remorse that their words had caused election workers to fear for their lives.

Richard Barron, the elections director of Fulton County, received over a hundred such messages in one week. “We’re coming after you and every motherf*****!r that stole this election with our Second Amendment, subpoenas be damned,” a message stated. “You’re going to be served lead, you f*****g enemy communist c*********r.”

Apart from everything else, third parties are unlikely to win major office because they have no support at the state and local level.

If through wild mischance Perot or Nader had managed to win the presidency, he would’ve been stymied because he’d have no party members in Congress.

And there is the fairytale “centrist” razor in the cartoon apple we all knew was coming. Let’s see, “No Labels” has been around for a long time and grifted a lot of money and has elected how many candidates? How many other “third way” groups have sprung up? Dozens! They all collect money, none of them get an candidates get elected and they all spout “But Both Sides” bullsh*t. Please just stop. #BothSidesDont

the political system should be more open to third party challenges. Ranked choice voting is one way to improve things.

“Democracy isn’t the objective; liberty, peace, and prosperity are. We want the human condition to flourish. Rank democracy can thwart that.” – Republican senator Mike Lee.

They don’t believe in equality. Just them dominating.

“Sir, I am an aristocrat. I love liberty, I hate equality.” — John Randolph of Roanoke (1753-1833).

Former United States Ambassador to Russia

John Randolph, commonly known as John Randolph of Roanoke, was an American planter, and a politician from Virginia, serving in the House of Representatives at various times between 1799 and 1833, and the Senate from 1825 to 1827. He was also Minister to Russia under Andrew Jackson in 1830. After serving as President Thomas Jefferson’s spokesman in the House, he broke with the president in 1805 as a result of what he saw as the dilution of traditional Jeffersonian principles as well as perceived mistreatment during the impeachment of Samuel Chase, in which Randolph served as chief prosecutor. Following this split, Randolph proclaimed himself the leader of the “Old Republicans” or “Tertium Quids”, a wing of the Democratic-Republican Party who wanted to restrict the role of the federal government. Specifically, Randolph promoted the principles of ’98, which said that individual states could judge the constitutionality of central government laws and decrees and could refuse to enforce laws deemed unconstitutional.

Well, the Dems lost a lot of races to third party candidates. That might start to hurt the GOP now as the party fractures over the madness they allowed to fester.

An admirable goal but ultimately futile. Out entire political process is rooted in the majority requirement for POTUS in Article II Section 1. The dynamics involved in gaining a majority causes a natural gravitation to a 2 party system.

That produces a top to bottom structure designed to win the WH which serves Congress as well, despite the absence of a majority requirement.

The sad thing about 3rd parties is that when they do gain a little traction they invariably damage the major party they are closest to in ideology. In nearly all cases where the 3rd party vote tally exceeds margin of difference, the winner of the election is the worst possible outcome for the 3rd party voter.

The above dynamic works in both directions.
