I was only a bridesmaid a few times, and in those cases, it was just “Wear a nice dress that you already own, or a new one you like.” But I have indeed seen some really ugly bridesmaid dresses, most of which were custom designed and cost a fortune. I’ve seen the opinion several times that maybe brides make their bridesmaids look ugly so that the brides look even better I don’t know if people can really be that petty, though I should know at my age that it’s quite possible!
