I think a better way for Arlo would have been rather than tear himself up tell Janis she’s always been beautiful. Followed with the “I’m the luckiest man in the world” comment.

Wonder what Janis’ reply would have been if Arlo had started the conversation?

If you value your body image that much, and that’s OK by me, then the trick is to involve yourself in some intense exercise regimen almost daily starting when you’re young. And carry on throughout your entire life.

If you don’t value your body image that much, then that’s OK too. Just make sure you don’t change your mind later.

What are the chances Janis will go out and see if Arlo is right?

My wife and I didn’t get married until we were 42. She feels like this on occasion, we are in our 60s now and not “spring chickens”. She loves it when I look her over and make eyes at her. I am a very happy man.

I’m surprised this recommendation hasn’t been made before, but here goes anyway. Arlo, don’t just sit there telling her she’s beautiful; show it to her, right now, ardently, ravishingly, confidently, lovingly, right there on the couch.

I know one who thinks so. She’s probably wrong. The one she has in mind doesn’t plan on leaving his wife.
