I guess this works is the world is no bigger than the comic panel in question.
That’s a fire waiting to happen.
Had a gas pump fail to shut off when I released the pump handle. I lowered the pump lever and the gas shut off. I informed the attendant who then got the gas off the concrete. He took the pump out of service
