Bad parents, bad laws, bad SCOTUS that for whatever reason ignored the first clause of the 2nd amendment, bad NRA and bad gun-sellers who have neither conscience nor empathy. (Think of them as drug dealers and you won’t be far wrong). And poorly funded schools shackled by bad rules.
And of all these, the parents are almost surely NOT the main problem. Though if you can think of a good way to make that part better, please PLEASE get to work!

As a Probation officer for 32 years I often supervised juveniles, I wagered $1000.00 to any parent that could fine in noteworthy dictionary “friend” in the definition of in the word parent. No takers, no surprise there . As a parent you have make some damn hard decisions as to the care and well being of your child. That means you make that choice as a parent not as a friend. They may not like it or give a damn, but in the long run you and the kid are both better off for it. God, buy a hand gun for a f**up kid, they both need to practice safe sex 15 years ago.

It is way past time that we started holding parents equally culpable. And ‘hidden in a drawer’ is not an adequate precaution.
