That’s the extreme view. Which is typical of M. Rall. From where I live, I find that I and my friends mostly are, well, moderate in our liberal views. Was the (name the trial) fair? We might actually agree either way. Was the outcome fair? More likely to be “aye” or “nay” on that one. Was it murder or self defense? Usually, we figure it out based on who started it. (So we disagree about the Rittenhouse verdict… and thought the judge was incredibly biased). But as Ted says, just waitabit, another will come along soon.
But, you know, I’ve been around since being homosexual was not just against the law, it was DANGEROUS. I’ve been around since the idea of a mixed race couple (and lets not even START on a mixed race homosexual couple!) was anathema to pretty much everybody. And we’ve gotten past a lot of that. Yes, there’s been some backlash, and the orange mistake amplified a lot of the racist backlash… but things ARE … Perfect? Not even close. Better? You bet.
The further that partisanship diverts us from common goals, consensus, or compromise, — from being a strong purposeful, proactive, nation — the more difficult it becomes to have what is perceived as “fair” justice, especially when the 50 states have NO uniform, universal, legal/justice system … and do not want one.
Mr. Rall, agree with almost everything you said in this toon. With the exception of “if your side wins, the system worked. If not, it’s riot time.” In reality that seems to only occur with one side. Can you tell me why city’s weren’t burning after the Waukesha racial hate murders of 6 people and counting, including a young child?
Marxism predicts that Capitalist systems eventually fall apart because the difference between what they preach against what they practice becomes too much for the system to support. I’m not a communist, but I have to say that I find it difficult to disagree with Marx. What Mr. Rall is pointing out is that Americans are beginning to believe that there is no justice, it’s all a fiction.
So far, among the decisions of the two cases in Wisconsin and Georgia, I have accepted the will of the jury. Each jury had to decide based on the laws of their state and the evidence presented, judge’s instructions, and so forth. I may have felt Kyle should’ve gotten some jail time, but the jury ruled. That’s the way we do things.
This isn’t totally fair. The guys convicted of killing Ahmaud Arbery are the exception that proves the rule that the so-called justice system is set up to benefit white dudes, especially if they have guns.

The right wingers who attacked the Capitol were out to kill politicians at Trump’s bidding.

Latinos and Asians don’t exist in this ‘race war’ narrative, thankfully we are left out.

That does not bode well for our country.

No one was calling for Rittenhouse to be killed. Jailed as the criminal he is, yes. Killed no.

Ted must have seen NeoconMan’s post about justice in the USA being entertainment.

Rall, why don’t you do a cartoon that asks, “What is the last good thing Republicans have done for the USA?” and see what kind of response you get.

Did I miss hearing about the rioting after the verdicts this time? I did see a lot of Republicans crowing about Kyle.
