Time was the US was very interested in helping our fellow Americans south of us with low interest loans, grants, financial aid, and other types of foreign assistance. We were trying to help their governments contain the cartels and assist their people is having a better life in their home country. Then we pulled back from such aid and the cartels, bad governments, and crime lords took control making their people look elsewhere for a place to live, like the US. This now is our most serious need in foreign relations, namely to assist our neighbors to the south, as well as bolstering our relations with Canada. We’ve been seriously lacking in that area.

As I understand it, a (very) few of the folks attempting to get in along the southern border are from continents other than the Americas.

Nice, except that vultures in flight do not hold their wings straight out like that—they form an obtuse dihedral angle, wingtips higher than the back.
