The local police did not want to charge anybody with a crime. It was 74 days before they were forced to, by a Grand Jury, and not until a video of the shooting went viral.
I hope this wakes some people up. When you carry a hammer around with you all the time, soon everything looks like a nail. Same is true for guns except it’s not nails that get shot.
When looking at these two cases of murder, one in Wisconsin, and another in Georgia, I struck by the differing laws being used. I was surprised at all the various degrees of murder available to the prosecution in Georgia. And in Wisconsin, their understanding of what constitutes self defense is very vague and not very tight at all. One scholar said their law was so wide in interpretation that one could drive a semi-truck through it. Plus the Wisconsin judge further narrowed the prosecutions avenues for conviction by apparently interjecting his own personal views into the case.
The publicly available evidence made the outcome clear almost from the start.
And despite all of the howling and whining by ignorant fools who ignored the fact for months, the verdict was correct and just and proper. Fit the facts and discarded the hysterical theories about motive, intent and legality.
Sadly, my comment applies to BOTH of the major verdicts this week, but only one of them is being welcomed by a grateful nation.
What is this country coming to three white men found guilty of killing an unarmed Black man in Georgia by a virtually all White jury? do I need to add an /s?
Hey, right-wing populists, maybe you’ll think a second before conducting something stupid……………speaking of which, every time I hear the term, “citizen’s arrest,” my mind immediately goes here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1D78Y60gvo

At least this outcome was the right one.

Fifty percent is better than the usual 0% and a lot better than “not even getting to court”.

I don’t think inappropriate footwear is a reason to kill anyone. If that were true everyone who wears Crocs would be dead!

As Garry Trudeau once said about another trial – “Guilty, guilty, GUILTY!!” And I say about THIS trial, “Thank goodness a jury finally got it right!!”

Who else is confused with the mixed messages our justice system is sending about white vigilanteism?

It doesn’t say well for the USA that people are surprised at the outcome of this; I am one of them, I admit.

Pretty sure they will appeal.. if Kyle can get a pass surely equal justice must apply and these vigilanties (fine people) should be free as well.

Remember: They didn’t prosecute these men because THEY saw the video; they prosecuted these men because WE saw the video.

It was inevitable.
It was a slam dunk.
