Saw a young man early this Thanksgiving asleep huddled in a coat. He was under a store awning on stacks of something piled against the wall with his cell phone plugged into their outdoor electrical outlet. The store was closed today. I purchased a grocery store made Turkey sub sandwich and laid it down next him as he slept on my way back to the car.
Wondered the rest of today if his family knew where he was or cared.
Well, there was NO welfare among the First American tribes. It was pretty much sink or swim, take care of yourself and your family or starve and die. The elderly were left to die for the most part as a Stone Age society didn’t have the resources to support them. The current descendants of NAs like to romanticize their heritage as some kind of placiditc, elven type of existence, but it was in fact a brutal, non forgiving, life.

Marty has a distinct point there. Not only that, but those Puritans were already persona non grata where they left from. NIMBY!

So, Native Americans invented grocery carts and back packs?
