My Thanksgiving at work at the grocery was horrible: was emergency called in the Sunday of Thanksgiving week and then sprained my ankle while collecting carts back. I worked Monday thereof just fine until the pain came back. I asked to switch with a bagger to let me recover a little; then they asked me in the middle of some bagging to go back to help collect carts and the pain was returning. Tuesday was a scheduled day-off. As soon as Wednesday rolled in, I was fine a few hours into the shift and guess what? My ankle was aching like crazy again! Sure they honored my request to bag again to let me recuperate. Then there was no choice but call out on my Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Saturday shifts. At least I went to the doctor to diagnose the problem and what treatment to do which was just ibuprofen and ice. I’ll meet with my supervisor later on to discuss my doctor’s note and see if I can come to work and just sit down in the shop recovering and trying best to help customers with directions to items’ aisles and whatnot without doing much physical strain.

My wife taught 1st grade for 30 plus years, how the hell she did it is beyond me. She was a damn good teacher!
