He apparently acquiesced, and now she’s stuck In an obscure gallery at the Orsay in Paris.

He does nudes.. and to see your mother nude just turns off the artistic spirit. In fact.. it’s been known to turn off most everything.

He also painted his Father. Although it is obscure next to the star status of his Mother. Whistler’s Father is part of the permanent collection of the Detroit Institute of Art.

Of course, it was not his own mother. Whistler painted a model who represented “Mother”.

He did not name it “My Mother”.
