Basically it’s just a good idea to keep your head down.

The idea that the end of the world is near keeps reoccurring usually with religious groups, but more recently with science-based groups.

I remember the drills where we had to hide under our desks during the cold war. As a young kid we had no idea how serious it was. For us it was sort of a hide and seek experiment.

The kids haven’t given up on the future. It’s the adults who have given up and are planning to take everyone down with them.

If every tale every teacher in school had tried to convince me of had actually come true, by now there 1) would be no such thing as an automobile, 2) would be no more oil or other source of energy remaining on the planet, 3) would be an atmosphere so polluted so as to no longer be capable of supporting life, 4) would not be any more habitable land area because “global warming” would have risen the ocean levels so high while simultaneously 5) other parts of the Earth would be in a deep freeze all because we 6) didn’t take Arbor Day seriously enough. I took it all with the same giant grain of salt back then that I still do to this day.
