And today’s “Woke” Qpublicans want to use “Cancel Culture” to whitewash some of the more unsavory parts of American History. Just because it makes you uncomfortable to talk about it, that doesn’t mean that it didn’t happen!
This cartoon makes me uncomfortable. I might have nightmares now. Therefore it cannot be shown to our delicate schoolchildren. Any teacher who uses this as an opportunity for classroom discussion must be disciplined or fired.
What’s with the continued myth of “stolen land”. Civilization has been encroaching where ever it likes since the dawn of time. Columbus’s son copied his Father’s diary from the original. The claims have been made that the son edited his Father’s diary. If the edited diary cleaned up the original, I don’t want to read the original.Columbus sold Indigenous people to Europeans as long as the Indigenous people were easy to catch. Then he turned to selling West Africans and got richer than an American televangelist.
I’m a Historian and my husband is Lakota born on the Rosebud Rez in So. Dakota. The people of North America, Central America, and South America(pre columbus) have been here more than 40,000 years and with more and more Archeological evidence coming forth probably much longer. Why is it that people like to say “well the indians weren’t here that long” or “they were immigrants here at one time also”???? So all of you saying that the whites being here for 400 years trumps people that we’re here for thousands of years? Got it. Or you say the Native people had no civilization like the Europeans? Really? WRONG!!!!!! Like the Europeans were civilized? According to who? Oh that’s right the Europeans thought they were civilized and the rest of the planet were all uncivilized. It’s so easy to denigrate a race and make them savages so they are easy to exterminate.My Husband’s tribe is a Matriarchal Tribe. My Husbands Tribe lived with nature and respected nature for thousands of years. And they were considered by whites to be uncivilized. Now I will tell you history about my Husband and his people which I doubt any of you know. “Indians” couldn’t go to public school. They were sent to boarding schools. My Husband was sent to the catholic boarding school at Marty So. Dakota. For NINE months out of the year he was not allowed to see his parents. His Brothers and Sisters were in other grades. If they talked to each other they were beaten. My Husband was raped and beaten by the priests. The nuns just beat him. The Children were forced to do farm labor, take care of livestock, clean the school, work in the laundry and kitchen and wait on the nuns and priests. My Husband was locked in a closet for days and given a bucket and water only. Horrific stories too many to tell. These catholics(sic) called my Husband a redskin, savage, dirty, drunk, stupid, prairie n*****, blanket ass etc. This didn’t happen a hundred years ago!!!!!!
