Judging from the sounds he’s making, I think Petey is playing John Coltrane’s arrangement of “The Jolly Little Elf Makes Toys In Santa’s Workshop With His Magic Hammer, Bang, Bang, Bang.”
Mr Thompson got a lot of charm out of Petey and his oboe, but it has always seemed to me that, given Peteys, um, crotchets, the oboe is just about the last instrument you’d think he would tolerate.
