At the risk of repetition, here’s what some very smart people had to say about the most famous theory of them all:

We never argue about the football games at Thanksgiving. We just all agree that the Lions suck, as they have for pretty much 50 years, and don’t deserve a Thanksgiving game. That, and we bond over our mutual hatred of the Cowboys.

Science elevates a theory to a fact when the evidence continues to support that idea … until it doesn’t.
The “Universal Gravitational Constant” is considered to be both “universal” and a “constant” although it’s never been measured more than a mile from the surface of the Earth. Despite international symposiums for the expressed purpose, it can’t be calculated beyond a few digits. Go figure.

They’re wrong. Theories (real ones) start with evidence, then an explanation that fits the evidence. They always work until contridictory evidence is found, and then a new explanation is derived.

They’re wrong. Theories (real ones) start with evidence, then an explanation that fits the evidence. They always work until contridictory evidence is found, and then a new explanation is derived.

Actual theories can be substantiated by facts. Which is why Conspiracy Theories are not theories at all.
