New taxes will have no effect on corporate expansion. When they cut them, it didn’t spur a massive increase in new building and hiring. It won’t have the reverse effect if they’re raised again. They’ll still be lower than they were prior to the Trump cuts. The truth is the corporate tax rates are largely a joke with the really huge corporations. They have so many ways to avoid paying the full amount or any taxes at all that it doesn’t matter if it’s 10% or 50%.
The ironic justice here is that many of the Progs programs would have helped those who support the GOPQ including the majority who took part in the Insurrection. We were informed about many of the arrested who live with their parents/relatives or in a trailer park if they were more fortunate.
If only two of the Qs were willing to go against Moscow Mitch’s dictatorship those oblivious right wingnuts in poverty would have had some bootstrap backups. For now, I am glad that the infrastructure will finally start to go on the mend.
On the Progs side they have to realize that free community college, forgiveness of all student debt, universal health care, taxation of capital assets on a given date without being sold and a few other miscellaneous giveaways were counterproductive. If you are going to use the deck to play poker either be sure you always have the winning hand or know how to make a believable bluff.
Everyone in DC or with any political knowledge at all knew how this was going to play out the day that Biden was elected. The Democrats have asked for the entire universe and the Republicans have declared a victory when they only managed to get the solar system. The package they did get is huge and will have a dramatic effect on society. It also made the things that were omitted, such as free community college, valid negotiable items for the next time we play this game. Ten years ago, that was a daydream.
Now, the Republicans will tell the Magats that they won, since the Democrats didn’t get everything they asked for. Since that means they are still defeating the Democrats, it will keep their iignorant supporters happy. And then next time a Republican is running for office, they will point out the new programs and benefits the Magats are getting, and claim credit for them.
Better than nothing… if the GOP was still in the White House that President would probably be handing us another invoice instead of handing out treats…
The Q-inspired cohort just knows all that stuff about equal opportunities/justice for everyone mentioned in the Constitution — and most religions — is NOT supposed to be taken seriously. Democracy and rights are for Q members only … even if that excludes the majority of people.
It’s called a start. More than any Republican has offered. If we want more and better we, the voter, need to give the Democrats a more decisive majority in the house and senate. If the Democrats have a 62 majority in the senate and still can’t get anything done, well, then people can complain. Otherwise, they are not seeing the forest through the trees.

Yep. As it always is with politics, you get some of what you wanted. At best.
