How do we protect parents from Social Media? Particularly those parents who are Trumpanzees.

This is accurate…to an extent. But if you dig deeper. It is shows the shame of a society that defines success as corporate profits regardless of any negative impacts. Republicans will say whatever is necessary to validate profits and economic return for shareholders as the greatest goal American society can achieve. Because nothing a corporation does can be wrong, if they made a profit. And all harm caused is excused or ignored, if they made a profit.

My wife and I raised our kids and did a damn good job, if I do say so meself! However, I’m now of the opinion that we should let the government and the schools raise all our kids. It would have made our lives easier and we could have spent more time on selfish pursuits while our kids would surely have turned out even better because the government is best at everything. /s

Most kids strive to emulate their parents — who unfortunately are so glued to their screens that they ignore the kids.

Certainly parents should pay attention to their kids’ social media use. That does not mean social media companies should abrogate their responsibilities to reign in unsafe content from the eyes of the young.

Though very rare, I have to agree with Mike on this. It is parents who bear the primary responsibility for protecting kids from the ills of social media.

But, when we think on social media, Facebook especially, we often applaud the efforts of those that wish to curtail SM’s openness to all things negative. But, what is negative? I use Facebook Live every Sunday for a worship service I produce at 4 PM. As I often say that I’m a heretic, one of the traditional camp of religion might see me as a kind of Biblio-terrorist. From their standpoint, maybe I should be banned from Facebook, to protect the innocents from my brand of heresy.

Excellent comic. Yes we as parents need to monitor our young children, but along with that there needs to be federal regulation of social media, the same as what we have on radio and television.

I don’t have kids but I’d think it’s far easier to parent a kid with a computer than a phone.

My 11-year old wants to watch this show:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqxAJKy0ii4

Because about half the kids in his class are watching it. His mom doesn’t want him to watch it. I rather agree. Fortunately for us, I earn enough for my wife to be a stay-at-home mom and supervise all this.

On the other hand, there are some kids in the class with single parents and other families where both parents need to work to make ends meet.

With the ubiquity of dangerous content on the web, I think parents need help in protecting their children from disturbing material.

Sadly, there are those parents that are gullible to conspiracy theories (hypothesis). Most of those kids problem will be not being vaccinated, because their parent believe there are squid like creatures being injected into people. Seriously, people really need to learn the difference from reality and a movie/fiction.

Ramirez’ cartoon is featured in today’s ComicStripOfTheDay:

    http://www.dailycartoonist.com/index.php/2021/10/25/csotd-blaming-the-parental-units/

    .

    Mike Peterson’s commentary includes:

“Hey, we only scatter poisoned candy on the ground. It’s up to you to make sure your kids don’t pick it up and eat it.”

    .

If you’re into daily comics, it’s a good read.

Strange answer. Obviously, the parents are looking for a tool to help them parent. Like a firewall that blocks certain websites, or blocks the Internet (except for school-related IP addresses) between certain hours. Or traffic monitoring tools, so they can see what their children are getting up to.

Doesn’t this idiot want to sell some software?
