Joe’s a politician. Has any politician EVER done the “under promise” half of the old saying?

And of course, he wouldn’t be coping with all those lowered expectations if he had a half-way decent Senate. And yeah, you folks over on the obstructionist side can giggle about which half.

Joe isn’t letting us down, the Republicans are, again.

New polling from Gallup shows that Biden’s approval rating dropped from 56% in Q1 to 44.7% in Q3 which represents an 11.3% drop that has not been experienced by any president since World War II.

For one thing, the Biden boat is fighting its way upstream, not downstream. Downstream is where republicans live, called a swamp.

Republicans are running the USA off a cliff.

It amazing how many comments by people on the right seems to imply that we have only one branch of government. Our government should be a government of compromise, but there are too many that it believe that they or their party are the only one that matter. At least Biden is trying to improve the lives of Americans and is willing to get something if he can’t get everything.

At least Joe and the Dems are working to raise our expectations that our government will provide the kind of base realities of all the other industrial countries in the world. On the other hand the GQP has for generations been busy lowering expectations by undoing the New Deal: they have spread right-to-work across the nation crippling the unions, they have given subsidies to companies that move their operations to “developing” countries where slave labor persists, they have lavished subsidies on the oil and farming industries, they protect “too big to fail” banking conglomerates and have advocated privatizing the so called “entitlements” (Social Security, Medicare, Military pensions, Medicaid) or doing away with them entirely.

Lisa accepts another paycheck for a humorless mundane stagnant and meaningless toon which ignores the expert propagandists and obstructionists of the GOPQ who are doing everything they can to overthrow our Democracy in its current form.

The only good Karma that will result is that the stupid poor people who are suckered into these beliefs will get the worst of it over the next decade IF the Dems lose both houses in 2022.

Let’s not forget to thank the SCOTUS who will be making the path easier as they claim that it is the laws and Constitution that are the basis for their decisions, and certainly not their religious and ideological beliefs.

Biden has said his entire career that he is a negotiator, he likes to work deals with the other side. He said that again during the campaign. Any good negotiator goes into talks asking for more than what they want. Room to negotiate. Did Biden expect $3.5 trillion? I think he’d have had a coronary if that went through. Biden knows his opposition, knows his own party. He knew the give and take needed. $1.5 trillion is huge, and likely about where he thought he’d wind up. I think he knew all along.

Not a Biden fan…. but still 1000 x better than the last guy… so there’s that… and since its look like the idiots on the right will nominate the insurrectionist again… looks like Biden will do the full 8 years.

Politics is the art of compromise. Have we forgotten?

I’m not expecting the price of gas / energy to go down. – I’m not expecting that open job positions are going to get filled. – I’m not expecting that the price of food is going to remain the same or go down. – I’m not expecting that mandates are going away any time soon. – I’m not expecting that kids are going to be getting any better at math. – I’m not expecting the supply chain is going to start rolling again. This is the first administration I’ve ever heard say something like “Lower your expectations.” Not very inspirational.

Odd how conservatives vow to never compromise, and claim that compromise only shows weakness… yet expect compromise and even complete concession from their opponents…

Biden (being the most politically experienced President in history, having been a Congressman, Senator and VP before becoming a President) surely knows the saw, “You lead with the Congress you have, not the Congress you wish you have”. I’m sure he’d rather not have a Senate with the Democrats in a razor-thin majority. If they can eliminate the filibuster and replace it with a straight up and down vote, perhaps they can get some stuff done and then say to the American people that they got stuff done. Perhaps then, in next year’s midterms, they can expand their majorities in the House and Senate and put themselves in a good position for 2024. But the ball is in their court and we’ll see if they can pull some weight. But I’m an optimist by nature and they can still pull it off.

Years ago my expectations for Lisa were deeply lowered. There’s no sign they’ll ever climb out of Hades.

Biden is doing a great job on ILLEGAL immigration. Funny I don’t remember an influx of unvaxed, unvetted, ill-treated illegals as part of his promise but boy is he delivering; to a closed border no less. Less exporting of capitalism and more mass importing of immigrants. I see no negative implications at all. Wow he is a magical genius.

Airlines must confirm that the proof of vaccination comes from an “official source” and was received at least two weeks prior. Any vaccines approved by US health regulators will be accepted.

Unvaccinated travellers, including Americans, will have to show a negative Covid test taken within one day of departure.

To deport all unauthorized migrants would cost hundreds of billions of dollars. America is tolerating illegal immigration. On the southern border, however, some border agents are disgusted with the situation and considering leaving over the administration’s “welcome to America” policies and sharp rise in apprehensions. The August figure of close to 210,000 is the highest monthly total of migrant encounters at the southern border since March 2000. More than 1 million encounters have occurred year-to-date during the current fiscal year 2021. In addition, an estimated 600,000 migrants have been released into the U.S. this year with notices to appear or report, which has encouraged others to try to cross the border. Also, hundreds of thousands have escaped into the country, recorded as “got-aways,” without any processing. Except for the relatively small numbers who have been convicted of crimes, the arrest and repatriation of millions of migrants residing unlawfully in the U.S appear unlikely and the deportations of unauthorized migrants are at a record low. Recently issued administration guidelines instruct immigration officials to no longer detain and repatriate migrants based on their illegal status alone. It is, in other words, a crime. It’s a crime.
